Pride and Prejudice Book Review

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is my favourite novel of all time, and I don’t say it lightly! This novel has the best of everything: a fantastic romance, likeable characters, comedy, and lovely writing. Elizabeth Bennet, a young lady in the 1800s, is the protagonist of Pride and Prejudice. The Bennet family has five daughters, and in an era when the only thing a woman could do was marry a wealthy man, all of the girls are under pressure to find affluent husbands to ensure the family’s financial security. Elizabeth, on the other hand, refuses to marry the first guy who comes along, preferring to marry for love. She meets Mr. Darcy, a gloomy, quiet, haughty, and immensely wealthy gentleman who first shows no interest in Elizabeth.

He gradually is enamored with her wit and charisma. Elizabeth believes Darcy is the last guy she could ever marry, but as the narrative progresses, she realises her preconceptions against him are unfounded, and he is a genuine gentleman who is merely timid. Will they be able to overcome their pride and prejudices in order to marry? I’m not a big admirer of ‘classical classics,’ which have a dreary and difficult-to-understand writing style. I was relieved to see that this was not the case with Austen’s way of writing. I loved every single page of this fantastic storey and was sad to see it come to an end! I’ll be reading more Austen in the future! I would suggest this book to anybody who enjoys romance, family tales, comedy, classics, or even hesitant readers who want an easy introduction to the world of classic literature.

Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice in a Nutshell

Because of the multiple adaptations, Pride and Prejudice is a well-known novel, and bookub members spend hours sipping wine and debating who should portray Darcy! Jane Austen at Home, a new book by Lucy Worsley, is an illuminating depiction of Austen and her life. If you’re interested in learning more about her background and the backdrop of her work, it’s a well-written and engaging read. There are also various Jane Austen organisations, as well as a plethora of funny adolescent and adult spin-off works.
